Cancer is no more a word that people get scared of. It is a curable disease today, if diagnosed at an early stage. What we plan early detection, correct diagnosis and a correct treatment is the key for a treatment to be successful. We work on the prevention, the diagnosis and the treatment of cancer.

Cancer is a major public health problem. More and more people are being diagnosed with cancer today. Thunga provides treatment for all forms of cancer, including solid tumors and blood related diseases.

The range of care provided is organised into a number of patient-centred clinics, which includes:

Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy kills cancer cells by damaging their DNA. Radiation therapy can either damage DNA directly or create charged particles within the cells that can in turn damage the DNA.

Cancer cells whose DNA is damaged beyond repair stop dividing or die. When the damaged cells die, they are broken down and eliminated by the body’s natural processes.

Chemotherapy (chemo) usually refers to the use of medicines or drugs to treat cancer. The thought of having chemotherapy frightens many people. But knowing what chemotherapy is, how it works, and what to expect can often help calm your fears. It can also give you a better sense of control over your cancer treatment.

It may also be used after surgery or radiation to destroy remnant cancer cells. At the centre, chemotherapy is given as an outpatient procedure at our specialized treatment areas, managed by a team of oncology trained nurses who provide close monitoring.

Surgery, when used to treat cancer, is a procedure in which a surgeon removes cancer from your body. There are many types of surgery. The types differ based on the purpose of the surgery, the part of the body that requires surgery, the amount of tissue to be removed, and, in some cases, what the patient prefers.

Surgery plays a pivotal role in the management of most solid cancer. While surgery alone is adequate for early cancers, most advanced tumors require multi modality treatment.

Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT)

A bone marrow transplant is a procedure to replace damaged or destroyed bone marrow with healthy bone marrow stem cells. Bone marrow is the soft, fatty tissue inside your bones. The bone marrow produces blood cells. Stem cells are immature cells in the bone marrow that give rise to all of your different blood cells.

The centre is supported by a Day Care Chemotherapy Unit that allows patients to go home the same day while under treatment. Besides, we offer cutting edge services like

  • Minimal Access Surgery and Robotic Surgery for most cancers
  • Trilogy for radiotherapy and Novalis Tx for radiosurgery
  • Latest PET Scan for precise diagnosis.
